Rustic weddings have been trending on the bridal scene since last year and by the looks of it, will continue to be a popular theme this year. A rustic wedding will transport your guests to a charming era by pairing vintage and natural elements.
1. The Invites
Add some rustic chic vibes to your wedding invites by using aged paper and a beautiful scrolled font. This simple design could also be a DIY if you want to have hand-written invitations. Another cute touch would be to include flower seeds along with the invites.
2. The Venue
Barns and ranches are popular venues for rustic weddings, but to really amp up the atmosphere, we suggest adding lots of light to create a rustic and glamorous event. You can get a similar look by using lots of string lights and draping them across the ceiling, and using a few statement chandeliers for that wow factor. Lights can take a barn from blah to bam in a flash (sorry, not sorry).

3. The Flowers
For a simple way to add rustic charm to your wedding, try adding in wildflowers to a simple white bouquet. I also love the look of brighter bouquets with flowers like sunflowers and lavender. My absolute favourite, however, is simple baby's breath; not only is this flower inexpensive, but it's a quintessentially rustic and beautiful.
4. The Bridal Party
Dress up your girls in gorgeous flowing gowns (long or short) to match the rustic wedding theme. You can mix-and-match dresses or colours (or both!) for a more laid back and relaxed feeling. Or go the traditional route and add rustic touches with vintage jewels and accessories. The Nancy, Hanna, Megan, and Jackie styles from Pastel Dress Party look beautiful together and suit many different body types.
5. The Decor
The key to keeping your rustic celebration chic, not kitschy, is by using rustic and vintage elements in unusual ways (and staying away from mason jars, I hate to say it, but the trend has been overplayed). A sweet and charming idea is to add burlap bows on the back of chairs along with a few wildflowers; the burlap will add interest and texture to the venue. Chalkboards are another constant at rustic weddings. So, whether they are used to display a menu, itinerary, or message, keep them chic by using elegant calligraphy.
6. The Photo Shoot
If you are hosting your wedding at a ranch or barn, take advantage of your venue to get some beautiful wedding pictures. If not, do some research and find farms or ranches in your area that will allow you to use their space. You can squeeze in a photo shoot between the ceremony and the reception.
7. The Celebration
After all's been said and done, a great way to end off your rustic wedding is with a bonfire and your loved ones! Send a sneaky hint to your guests by giving out mini s'mores kits as wedding favours. You can also include sparklers for a glowing send-off.
