Picking out the perfect bridesmaid's dress can be really tough. There are a million different options to choose from and you have to make sure whatever you pick flatters all of your lovely maids! Basically, it's a lot of pressure. But you don't need to freak out or spend days scouring boutiques and websites or try on a 100 dresses because there are a few styles that are sure to work.
So what makes a bridesmaid dress flattering? One way to approach this problem is by looking at your closet: find your go-to, wear anytime/anywhere dresses. Most likely, they have a few things in common! Personally, my favourite pieces are those that highlight my waist and help cover-up the inevitable food baby.
Of course, there are a few silhouettes that are universally flattering.
A-line (or fit-and-flare) dresses are always are good pick. They highlight the waist and skim over the hips, giving the body a lovely hourglass shape. Similarly, empire waist dresses create a similar illusion, by lengthening the body and flowing over common trouble spots. Strategically placed ruching and wrap dresses bring attention to the waist and create a slim figure. Sweetheart necklines tend to be the most flattering on all body types. Another tip is to choose matte fabrics over anything shiny, so pick chiffon over silk!
So, the big question is, what is the most flattering dress style?
The award goes to the Megan Dress! It's available in both short and long styles.
The Megan dress has beautiful ruching that draws the eye to the waist, it has a soft A-line bottom which skims over the hips. The delicate, sweetheart neckline is flattering on all body types; and the dipped hem adds an extra special touch. At Pastel Dress Party, you can customize this dress with straps for extra support.
This group of gorgeous ladies show just how versatile our Megan dress really is.
If the Megan isn't quite your thing, look to either the Maggie dress (bottom left) or the Hanna dress (bottom right)!
The Maggie dress comes with fabric that can be tied around the waist as a little belt, or pulled up to from a halter neck. And the Hanna dress comes with a beautiful, blingy belt along the waistline. Both dresses have lovely pleated details which draw the eye up the body, elongating the figure. The pleats also help hide tummies and hips by flowing over those areas. And again, we have the ultra femme sweetheart neckline to accentuate the bust. There you have it, our round up of the top three dresses at Pastel Dress Party. All three styles have a flowy body that is very forgiving while the ruching and pleating highlights the smallest part of the body (the waist)! These dresses are versatile enough to be worn as a bridesmaid dress, or at any other special occasion.
