Another #PastelProposal, this time from Sejal in Ottawa. It comes in the form of a video smile emoticon
Full story: "My boyfriend and I live together so it's hard to surprise me. He works a lot so we end up watching a lot of movie trailers but never actually see the movie! LOL! One night before bed he says, "I really want to see a movie soon!" I comfort him with, "Don't worry, on your next day off, we'll plan it out and go for sure! Any movie you have in mind?" He says, "Yes, wanna watch the trailer?" I jump in bed and this is what we watched
He'd made if for me the night before after his late shift! I cried, I laughed and I thought he was proposing! But it was a prelude to get me to anticipate what was to come! tongue emoticon We shared it on FB and we had an amazing response!! My FB friends couldn't wait for..."the movie"? So now the pressure was on. He said, The Proposal, Coming this Spring! People were banking on it happening before June 21st! Well...there were some delays in his planning and we went on vacation to the Dominican Republic in early June and everyone was SURE he was going to propose there! Well, he didn't. unsure emoticon Many disappointed FB fans, friends and family!!
One day in September, he says, "Babe, let's go out to dinner this Saturday." I knew this was it!! He is a health nut so he prefers to eat in so I cook all the time! I got my hair colored, I put on make and a dress, etc. He said we was stepping out to call the taxi to take us to our secret restaurant. It was about 6pm and still light outside. When he came back announcing the taxi was waiting downstairs (we live in a condominium), we left and had to pass by the garden terrace in our building on the way to the elevators. He stops me and says, "Oh my gosh! I think tonight is that Supermoon! Can we go take a look quickly?!" I was hesitant. I mean, the cab was waiting...but he promised to be a minute and thought it was necessary in case we weren't seated near a window in the restaurant. So, I obliged. We looked over the terrace and looked up at the CN Tower which was covered with clouds and no moon in site. I said, "So much for that Supermoon! Let's not keep the cab waiting." He then asked me to look down at Queen's Quay where he said they were building a cool new restaurant. I stared at the horrible construction sites and said, "Where?" He then slowly turned me around to a bistro set in the garden with white table cloth, candle holders, chilled wine, cloth napkins and place settings for two! I knew this was it!!! So there was no cab or reservation at all. He got me there. smile emoticon He pulled out my chair and then seated himself. He pulled out his phone and I said, "Hey! The rule is no phones on date nights remember?" He said, "Just wait." And he pulled out a portable speaker and attached it to his phone. He then said, "Watch this." He made a 30 minute movie!! For ME!!
We shortened to half for FB and took out all the sappy speeches but it was incredible! I laughed, I cried, I cooed. He did it ALL on his iPhone 5s in the iMovie App!! And my friends and family were in it! He even filmed while we were in the Dominican when I was sleeping!! It was the biggest romantic gesture of my life! He worked on this in secret for 5 months! And we live together!!
At the end of the video, he said, "And there's more, but I'll tell you in person...and he walked off screen." He then took the phone from me, gently pulled me up to stand, and as we stood there both nervous...papparazzi like flashes were going off to my right!! But he was saying loving things to me so I didn't dare look right. Although, I could barely hear what he was sauing because I kept wondering, "Who is over taking photos??" "How many photographers are there??" I'm sure his speech was lovely but I couldn't get out of my own head!! LOL! Then, he bent down on one knee. OMG! This is really happening! He pulled out the ring and said, "Will you marry me?" I was in such shock I think I just nodded and said, "Uh huh." LOL!
After kissing him, I turned to see that the photographer was a friend of mine! And hugged and thanked him as well. He waited 30 minutes in the bushes while I watched that video!! LOL! We all shared some wine and people on the other side of the garden came over to congratulate us. After they left, I asked, "Now what?" He responded, "Now we have a photo shoot in the garden!" That was awesome to have captured our excitement. He timed it perfectly too. We had pictures in the day and the night. After the photo shoot, our take out of from my favourite Indian restaurant arrived with all my favourite dishes! We lit the candles, poured more wine and over dinner, he told me the whole story of how him and all my loved ones pulled this off behind my back. What an incredible night that was! And I have pictures and videos to cherish that night forever! That's my story! Our videos are on YouTube if you search Sandeep asks Sejal. Congratulations to all you on your engagements and beautiful proposal stories as well!"
