We ring in the new year with a special series we've been working on with Fine Tune Pilates! This Toronto-based studio is all about making you feel great from the inside out. We start our series with an exercise that builds a strong side core, sexy shoulders, and better posture!
Try a side bridge with rotation to target that pesky bra fat, or underarm area. This exercise helps build strong obliques (side core), sexy shoulders, and helps us to stand taller in our posture! Side bridge is an excellent exercise to strengthen the sides of the body, as you lift your bottom hip off the ground feel for work from the side of hip all the way up to the underarm. It can be hard to support your head and neck in this exercise, try and look straight ahead while you lift, or straight down at the bottom elbow if that's more comfortable. The rotation at the end of this move adds an added challenge for the obliques.
Pro Tip: try and keep hips still as you rotate the upper body.
