We ring in the new year with a special series we’ve been working on with Fine Tune Pilates! This Toronto-based studio is all about making you feel great from the inside out. This week's workout is all about working out your muscles for your best back! Those open back dresses won't know what hit 'em!
This exercise is called robot arms, and it's one of my favourites! It targets the rhomboid muscles between your shoulder blades, and posterior delts at the back of shoulders. Translation...when you're done, you feel your shoulders are rolled back, and you'll see definition in your upper back you never knew was there! Try 10-20 reps.
Pro Tip: anchor your breast bone down on the mat so you're not arching your back. It's not about how high you lift the arms, less is more. Feel for your shoulder blades coming together a little at the back when you lift the arms, and apart as you lower the arms. Stop and take the time to readjust your shoulders into place after ever few reps.
